It was back in 2012 when World of Wanderlust was first launched. What began as a personal solo travel journal of my adventures, quickly became one of the most recognisable brands in travel, which was specifically created for women and by women.
When I first had the opportunity to travel overseas, I was enamoured by all of the sights, sounds and smells of the first city I visited – Hong Kong. Suddenly I saw an alternate reality, a world outside my own, and I was hooked. I didn’t know it then, but my ordinary life would never be the same – suddenly I was chasing the extraordinary and wouldn’t settle for anything less.
As soon as I reached the ripe age of twenty, I started traveling solo. I so badly wanted to explore and see the world, but my friends were more interested in spending than saving. Without anyone to travel with, I realise I should just travel alone. I was nervous at first, but those nerves quickly faded and my love for exploring solo began.
Fast track to now, World of Wanderlust has helped millions of readers, most of them women, explore the world solo. Our articles have become a go-to source for travel information and inspiration, particularly amongst our primary demographic of women aged 18-45 years of age (though we have many readers who fall outside of these core demographics!)
In 2021, I announced the next phase for World of Wanderlust. What has served as a personal journey for my own adventures, would now open up to become a community platform of like-minded women who love to travel.
We will continue to share updates as they occur in real-time on Instagram and LinkedIn, and we’re so excited to welcome more of our readers to our contributing authors on this platform.
